He Who Dwells

SATB choir and organ / 3.5 minutes

While singing in the Chancel Choir of the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the music director (and at that time my organ teacher) Dr. Steven Egler approached me about composing an anthem for the choir to sing. I chose a favorite text from Psalm 91, and set it with slowly oscillating chords in the organ to create a sense of meditative solidarity. This flexible work is very easy to prepare, is mostly diatonic and unison for the choir, but maintains an interesting harmonic language in the organ part.
